OCD, Anxiety, and ERP Therapy
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and Anxiety with Somatic Therapies
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is an evidence-based treatment for obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) and many anxiety disorders. ERP helps you gradually face feared situations and reduce the compulsions or avoidance patterns that keep anxiety in place.
In my practice, I combine ERP with body-based therapies such as Somatic Experiencing (SE), EMDR, and Brainspotting. These approaches bring the nervous system into the healing process: helping you stay regulated, connected, and supported as you move through exposures.
Rather than pushing yourself into overwhelming situations, we work together to pace each step so your body has time to integrate the changes.
This integration means:
-
ERP provides structure and effectiveness, grounded in decades of research.
-
Somatic therapies bring safety and regulation, helping you listen to your body and anchor through each exposure.
-
Together, they create a path toward freedom from intrusive thoughts and anxiety that feels sustainable, embodied, and deeply supportive.
